Technology for Nonprofits

PCs for People provides computers and internet services to eligible organizations in addition to low-income families. Eligible organizations (see requirements below) can purchase computers and internet from us in bulk or one at a time. Many nonprofits use these computers for their own office technology but some create a computer lab to be used by the people they serve. Eligibility for Organizations

Organizations must meet one of the following criteria

  1. Nonprofit or non-governmental organization with recognized charitable status in their respective country (equivalent to 501(c)(3) status under the US Internal Revenue Code).

    1. In addition to providing your organization’s IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter your organization must meet three of the five following criteria to be viewed as an eligible organization

      1. A company email (non-gmail/hotmail/yahoo email addresses)

      2. A Guidestar account that proves organization has income/assets

      3. A Company Website

      4. A Facebook page

      5. 3 or more paid staff members or a legitimate Board of Directors

  2. Educational institutions that are:

    1. accredited academic institutions; or

    2. vocational institutions; or

    3. preschools that

      1. provide educational services to children;

      2. serve at least ten children; and

      3. have been in operation for at least one year.

  3. Administrative offices of an educational institution that are:

    1. district, regional, state, provincial or national administrative offices;

    2. organized and operated exclusively for administration purposes; or

    3. government groups whose activities primarily consist of providing administrative support for educational institutions.

  4. Public museums that:

    1. are organized primarily for educational or aesthetic purposes;

    2. have a professional or volunteer staff; and own or use real objects, care for them and show them to the public on a regular basis.

    • Nonprofits must place the order online, or be in contact with staff members prior to coming to our office to pick up the equipment they have purchased. Organizations are not eligible to utilize PCs for People’s in store prices, as those are for low-income individuals. Bulk sales must be approved and discussed with PCs for People management based on availability.

Internet Available

PCs for People is offering high speed 4G LTE internet service through Mobile Beacon for as low as $10 per month. Plans are prepaid with no credit check or hidden fees. You can visit our office to purchase a device or purchase it online and receive the device within 3-5 business days.

 

Online Partner Enrollment

PCs for People has partnered with Mobile Beacon to develop an online sales platform that allows your nonprofit to sell internet and computers directly to the low-income people using your services. You simply need to register your nonprofit at our website (https://www.pcsrefurbished.com/nonprofit/partnerApplication.aspx). Once registered and approved as an eligible organization based on the criteria listed above, you receive your own unique URL to use. Every device or computer that is sold at that URL is tracked and accessible to your organization via the Online Partner portal.

 

All Online Partners will be able to view their “customers” basic information, billing dates, and device status. This information can be useful to your organization as you look to measure the impact your nonprofit is having towards bridging the digital divide. PCs for People will handle all the technical support and troubleshooting so you only need to focus on helping your constituents enroll in the program.

Devices purchased through PCs for People are for recipients who meet our eligibility requirements only. These devices can not be resold or redistributed to individuals who are not qualified PCs for People clients.
